Hey there, my name’s Harley, and I’m twenty one.
The Paved Paradise was primarily a place to post my photos from in and around Bali, Indonesia. I lived there for about seven years or so. Now, I’ve moved back to Australia.
I’m continuing to post my photos here, regardless of where I took them.
(previous ‘about’ below)
I’ve been attempting to capture the loss of traditional culture through the over-commercialization of Bali. Rice fields make way for roads and villas, ceremonies are manifested into plays for tourists and palm trees are cleared to make way for cellphone towers. Money speaks, and it destroys what was.
If there’s one thing I hate about this island, it’s the international snobbery that has developed along with the commercialisation of it. That said, I probably wouldn’t be here right now without it… Hence The Paved Paradise.
Worth it? We’ll see.
As for my photos and content, you may not modify, copy, distribute, transmit, display, perform, reproduce, publish, license, sell, or use them in any way without my permission.
That said, if you think I may be interested in your project, please feel free to shoot me a message..!
